It was a Joyce Beatty –Melania Trump fashion faceoff and by the looks of things, the Democrat won, not because she wore it better, but because of what she said to reporters after her speech.
On Thursday, the last day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Beatty, United States Representative for Ohio’s 3rd congressional district, walked on the stage to deliver a speech.
However, before the Democrat could even open her mouth, she received a thunderous round of applause from the audience. The reason? Her dress.
Apparently, by sheer coincidence, Mrs. Beatty wore the same dress as Donald Trump‘s wife, Melania Trump, when she attempted to humanize her husband on the first night of the Republican National Convention in Ohio.
Moreover, as the world knows, it was the same night that it was discovered that the former model plagiarized Michelle Obama‘s 2008 convention speech.
Mrs. Beatty looked beautiful in the buddy hugging white dress, which featured puffy sleeves. The ivory Roksanda “Margot” dress that Mrs. Trump sported retailed for $2,190.
After her speech, Beatty did a brief interview where she more or less confirmed that it was not a fashion faux pas, and it was her way of trolling or throwing shade at Mrs. Trump for stealing Mrs. Obama’s speech.
While the dress sold out in minutes, Beatty’s husband, who might be a prankster, was able to purchase one and asked her to wear it at the historic event. Beatty explained:
“My husband, he had bought the dress and told me to wear it. Now it’s blowing up all over the nation that it’s the same as Mrs. Trump’s, but I don’t know.”
She added:
“I just known, I used my own words in my speech.”
Beatty drops the mic and leaves the room.
