Meghan McCain was a co-host on The View for four years before her spectacular exit in August 2021.
The daughter of late and great Senator John McCain was more or less the sole conservative voice on the gabfest — which implied that her views often clashed with liberal co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar.
While the sparring led to great TV moments that often trended on social media, it created a toxic work atmosphere for the ladies.
The on-air drama also caused strained relationships between the passionate TV personalities.
In a new interview, the 37-year-old Republican took some time to reflect on her time on the ABC morning talk show.
Meghan McCain, who is now a contributor for the Daily Mail, confessed that she is still in contact with one of her former colleagues.
McCain revealed that she has a close bond with Sunny Hostin.
During an interesting appearance on the Reality With the King podcast, she shared: “Sunny is one of the greatest TV presences in all of television. I keep telling her she should have her own show. I don’t know why MSNBC isn’t trying to poach her for Rachel Maddow’s spot. She’s by far the most politically savvy person on that show.”
Meghan McCain continued by saying: “And extremely curious in a way, I didn’t find anyone else I worked with. Like, curious about different aspects of politics. She’s the only cast member I still have a relationship with. I have such love for her and respect for her. She’s a really good person, and she didn’t demonize me the way a lot of other people did, for whatever that’s worth.”
While she was honored to be part of the show, Meghan McCain explained that she had stopped watching it since her exit.
She claimed: “It was a privilege to be on for four years. I have moved on. I don’t watch the show at all. It doesn’t really enter my lexicon that often, even just the feeds I follow on Twitter and the news I read, and the pop culture I consume. Most of the pop culture I consume, it’s a lot of Housewives, so I don’t watch anymore, and it would be too weird to watch.”
Meghan McCain added: “I don’t miss it, and I think it’s because I had such a hard time my last season. It was a really hard time in my life. I’ve been really open, in my book, about what happened. I felt like I owed it to give more context to my experience. I think my experience on the show suffered a lot with COVID and Zoom. I think it’s a lot easier to hate someone through a box and through a screen and do not understand where they’re coming from.”
Hostin previously revealed that she respects McCain’s views even though they disagree on many topics and added that she considers her a friend.
After the interview, Meghan McCain took the opportunity to slam controversial Fox News host Tucker Carlson for using the name of her father while mocking Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas.
Crenshaw is a former Navy SEAL who lost his right eye in combat.
In an attempt to insult Crenshaw, who is embroiled in a long list of embarrassing scandals and who lost reelection last night, the conservative pundit said: “You know, the more I think about it, it takes a lot of gall for eyepatch McCain to attack moms who are worried about baby formula as pro-Russia.”
Meghan McCain tweeted: “This is just trash. That being said, I’m sure @DanCrenshawTX doesn’t mind the comparison.”
The media personality is never too far away from the arena.
